The Makoena Mabusela Bursary

This is more than just a bursary; it’s about supporting young women to honour the legacy of a woman who was passionate about women’s education and empowerment. The Makoena Mabusela Bursary Fund is invested in developing well-rounded individuals, so that graduates are not only academically qualified but are work-ready and socially conscious participants in the economy.

Bursaries are only offered to applicants who are currently in Grade 12 or in their first year of university.
Applicants currently in Grade 12 and applicants already in possession of a National Senior Certificate:
- minimum of 70% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 70% in English
Applicants currently in first year university, pursuing STEM-related study programmes:
- minimum of 60% in each subject
Applicants must meet the minimum entrance requirements for their chosen field of study at university.
Applicants who aim to study full time towards an undergraduate university degree at a South African University in one of the following degrees:
- Commerce – Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Investments and Finance
- Engineering – Aeronautical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics
